Mort Street

The residents of this renovated historic home wanted a bit more than a facelift for their tired courtyard. They wanted understated elegance and a distinct European feel, but with a bit of ‘wow’ factor. They wanted low maintenance. They wanted a spa included, but not dominating the space. So together with the clients, a plan was developed to ensure these desires were met.

During the design development phase, three separate garden zones were created in the tight space, with a conscious goal of not overcrowding it. The different spaces each add amenity to their home, particularly by offering leafy, verdant vistas from the lounge room and kitchen whilst indoors looking out. The zones allow for different uses of each space, whether it be a quiet aperitif for a couple in the upper terrace, a summer luncheon for eight in the outdoor dining area, or a bit of relax time for a few teenagers in the spa area.
